The South Asia Collective, People’s SAARC Regional Secretariat, and Minority Rights Group International organised the report launching of the South Asia State of Minorities Report 2016: Mapping the Terrain on 11 November 2016 in Kathmandu, Nepal.
This report has been put together by the South Asia Collective, a group of minority and human rights researchers and activists from across the region, with the objective to contribute to advocacy for establishing South Asia-wide minority and human rights standards and mechanisms through building a body of evidence, stimulating debates, and galvanizing regional civil society. Drawing on this detailed study, the report includes a series of recommendations to improve the protection of minorities in South Asia. Notably, it calls for increased regional cooperation and action from governments and civil society.
